Migraine and Eye Symptoms Reveal Hidden Health Risks

Migraine can manifest in many ways beyond the classic pulsating headache behind one eye. Affected individuals may experience dizziness, tingling, numbness of facial or limb areas, or a sensation of electric shocks that spreads from the base of the skull to the scalp and neck. These neurological signs can be mistaken for stroke or other conditions, making early recognition important.

Eye problems can also signal systemic illnesses. Elevated cholesterol may cause temporary vision loss or visible gray rings around the cornea, while thyroid disorders can produce bulging eyes and dry‑eye symptoms. Diabetes increases the risk of macular swelling, retinopathy, glaucoma and cataracts. In addition, retinal migraine can produce brief blind spots, flashing lights, or zig‑zag lines in one eye, indicating that migraine can affect visual pathways directly.

Recognizing these varied symptoms helps individuals seek appropriate medical evaluation and treatment before complications develop.
