Migrant worker found dead in Yeoju after disappearing while working

A female migrant worker in her 30s was found dead in the brush near a farm in Sejongdaewang-myeon, Yeoju, approximately 28 hours after she went missing.

The worker, who had entered South Korea on an 8-month seasonal worker visa, reportedly told her employer she was not feeling well before going to rest on July 7. After the farm owner reported her missing, police and fire authorities conducted a joint search and discovered her body on the evening of July 8.

At the time of her disappearance, the region was under a severe heatwave warning, with temperatures reaching 36.2 degrees Celsius. Police intend to conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and investigate whether heat-related illness played a role or if there were underlying medical conditions.
