Migrants Víctor and Liam Martínez return to Mexico after ICE detention

Víctor Martínez Nieto and his five-year-old son, Liam Tadeo, have returned to Santa Catarina, Guanajuato, following their detention by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Austin, Texas.

The father and son were detained on August 16 while traveling to a soccer match. Following their arrest, they were transferred to the South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley. Their repatriation was coordinated through the Mexican Consulates in Austin and San Antonio.

Local authorities in Guanajuato, including Deputy María Eugenia García Oliveros, confirmed they have been monitoring the case to ensure proper legal assistance and support during the repatriation process. The state's Human Rights Secretariat has also been involved in providing support to the family.
