Migration authorities in Dominican Republic and Chile launch new digital services
The Dominican Republic's General Directorate of Migration (DGM) has transitioned its 100% digital minor exit permit from a free pilot phase to a regular service. Following a month-long trial that issued 5,603 permits, the service now carries an official fee of RD$6,300. This total cost covers various institutional requirements, including notary powers, legalization of notary acts, and filial certification.
In Chile, the National Migration Service (SERMIG) has launched a new digital tool allowing foreign nationals to obtain a 'Labor Authorization' certificate. This free, immediate service enables individuals to verify their legal eligibility to work in the country. The certificate, which includes a QR code for employer verification, can be accessed online using a Clave Única or a SERMIG account. This initiative follows data showing that over 681,000 foreigners have contributed to the Chilean pension system since 2022.
