Migration enforcement actions reported in Peru and Chile

In Peru, the National Police conducted a migration control operation in Iquitos, Loreto, involving 150 Venezuelan and Colombian citizens. Authorities verified documentation to ensure compliance with current migration laws. General Enrique Mega Avellaneda, head of the Loreto Police Region, reported that 14 foreigners were identified as being in an irregular migratory situation. These individuals have been placed at the disposal of specialized police units, and the Division of Human Trafficking and Foreigners will coordinate with the National Superintendency of Migrations to determine administrative measures, which may include expulsion.

In Chile, President José Antonio Kast has ordered the immediate expulsion of six foreign nationals detained during violent incidents in central Santiago. The unrest occurred during commemorations of the 2019 social uprising. The detainees include three Peruvians, two Haitians, and one Venezuelan. President Kast stated via social media that he has instructed the Ministry of the Interior and the Migration Service to utilize all legal and administrative tools to expel those involved in the disturbances to prevent foreign nationals from participating in acts that alter public order.
