Migros expands retail footprint through Kent Gross acquisition

Migros is continuing its expansion strategy within the Turkish retail sector through various acquisitions. Following its 2023 purchase of Hobi Parfümeri, which operated 26 branches in Izmir, the company has moved to acquire Kent Gross.

Reports regarding the Kent Gross deal have seen renewed interest following recent activity in the market, such as Yeni Mağazacılık's acquisition of CarrefourSA. While some discussions suggested a new transaction, records show that the Turkish Competition Authority (Rekabet Kurumu) had previously approved the transfer of tenancy rights and fixed assets for six Kent Gross stores located in Konya on February 29, 2024.

The acquisition of Kent Gross, which operates branches in Istanbul and Konya, aims to strengthen Migros's position in the physical retail market alongside its existing successes in e-commerce and digital services.
