Miguel Cabrera reaches 500 career home runs

On August 22, 2021, Miguel Cabrera became the first Venezuelan player in Major League Baseball history to reach 500 career home runs. The milestone occurred during a game between the Detroit Tigers and the Toronto Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre.

Cabrera hit the historic 500th home run in the sixth inning off pitcher Steven Matz, tying the game. The hit traveled approximately 400 feet to right field. Cabrera joined an exclusive group of only 28 players in MLB history to achieve this feat. His career achievements include 11 All-Star selections, two American League MVP awards, and a Triple Crown won in 2012.
