Miguel Díaz-Canel reviews community and defense work in Punta Brava

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel highlighted the integration of community development and national defense during a visit to the Punta Brava defense zone in the La Lisa municipality of Havana. Marking National Defense Day, the president emphasized that defense zones should function as management spaces that address both national security preparedness and the daily needs of residents.

Fidel Alemán, president of the Punta Brava Defense Council, reported that the 10-square-kilometer territory utilizes over 20 production and defense brigades, alongside Territorial Troop Militias. Discussions focused on population protection, social-economic support for retirees and vulnerable groups, and addressing challenges in water supply and electricity.

Food production remains a priority for the area, which manages over 400 hectares of agricultural land. Díaz-Canel urged the acceleration of land distribution to applicants and the expansion of livestock and crop cultivation. Esteban Lazo, president of the National Assembly of People's Power, noted that Punta Brava was a pioneer in the Urban Agriculture Program.
