Miguel Ángel Valverde discusses local traditions and 2027 mayoral candidacy

Miguel Ángel Valverde, President of the Ciudad Real Provincial Council and leader of the People's Party (PP) in the province, has made several recent statements regarding local governance and political candidates.

In Puerto Lápice, Valverde participated in the patron saint festivities for the Virgen del Buen Consejo. During the event, he emphasized the importance of small municipalities in preserving their cultural roots, identity, and traditions. He specifically highlighted Puerto Lápice’s historical connection to Cervantes and the Quixote legacy.

Regarding future political developments, Valverde announced that the PP intends for the current mayor of Villanueva de los Infantes, Carmen María Montalbán, to run again as the party's candidate in the 2027 municipal elections. He praised her management as a success, noting her role in increasing the town's cultural and touristic profile. Montalbán has not yet made a formal decision regarding her candidacy.
