Miguel Reale Júnior declares support for Lula reelection
Jurist Miguel Reale Júnior, one of the authors of the impeachment request against former President Dilma Rousseff, has declared his support for the reelection of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Reale Júnior, a former Minister of Justice, shared a social media post featuring the “L” hand gesture, a symbol used by Lula's supporters, while wearing green and yellow clothing.
Reale Júnior stated his endorsement is intended to “preserve democracy,” expressing concerns that a victory for Senator Flávio Bolsonaro would pose a threat to the country. He also voiced opposition to potential amnesty for those involved in the January 8, 2023, attacks on government buildings, suggesting such a move would validate attempts to overturn the 2022 election results.
The jurist is among several center-right figures and former government officials who signed a manifesto supporting Lula's continuity. Other signatories include Beatriz Cardoso and former Finance Minister Rubens Ricupero.
