Miguel Vieira reveals cancer has spread to his ribs

Portuguese fashion designer Miguel Vieira has shared a significant update regarding his battle with cancer. Following a surgery two months ago to remove a tumor and half of his left lung, recent medical examinations revealed that cancer cells had doubled in size and spread to his ribs, causing intense bone pain.

Vieira described the news as something that ‘took the ground from under me,’ noting the emotional impact of the diagnosis. However, he stated that identifying the source of his pain has allowed his medical team at the IPO to adjust his treatment plan, which now includes a revised chemotherapy cocktail and urgent radiotherapy.

Despite the health challenges, the 60-year-old designer remains focused on his professional work. He is currently preparing for Milan Fashion Week, an event he describes as a historic milestone for Portugal, noting that the creative process helps him manage his condition.
