Mihaela Bilic advises on flat vs carbonated water for health
Nutritionist Mihaela Bilic explained that flat and carbonated water hydrate the body equally. The main differences lie in carbon dioxide, bicarbonate, pH and mineral content, with flat water containing about 300 mg/L of dry residue and carbonated water up to 1 500 mg/L.
Bilic recommends flat water for people with kidney problems or high blood pressure because it is lower in salt and minerals. She refutes the myth that carbonated water causes weight gain, noting its anti‑acid, digestive‑stimulating properties and its usefulness after heavy sweating. For individuals without specific health issues, she advises choosing the type of water based on personal preference.
