Mihai Neșu reflects on Cristi Chivu’s severe head injury

Former Romanian footballer Mihai Neșu has reflected on the severe head injury sustained by Cristi Chivu during a 2010 match between Inter Milan and Chievo. Neșu noted that Chivu, who is currently coaching at Inter, was fortunate to avoid permanent neurological damage following the collision with Sergio Pellissier.

Chivu required surgery after the incident and played the remainder of his professional career wearing a protective helmet. Neșu, who also faced a career-ending spinal injury in 2011, praised Chivu’s professional progression from his early days as captain at Ajax to his current coaching role, describing him as an example of resilience.
