Mihovljan Shooting Club celebrates 70 years of operation
The Mihovljan Shooting Club, also known as Sloboda Mihovljan, celebrated its 70th anniversary with a ceremony at the Mihovljan Community Center. Founded in 1956 by local shooting enthusiasts, the club initially lacked a dedicated facility and members practiced in private courtyards.
A significant turning point occurred in 1995 with the establishment of a shooting range in the Mihovljan Sports Center. Over its seven-decade history, approximately 400 shooters have passed through the club. Currently, the club maintains 30 members, including 20 active competitors training under coaches Dražen Hajdinjak and Marko Kolac.
The club has achieved various sporting successes, notably highlighted by Croatian representative Hrvoje Marčec, who competed in five European and world championships. During the celebration, Ignac Tkalčec received special recognition for leading the club for 50 years. Local officials, including Čakovec Mayor Ljerka Cividini, attended to honor the club's long-standing tradition and athletic contributions.
