Mijajlović and Spičanović deny criminal organization charges
During a hearing at the High Court in Podgorica, businessman Aleksandar Mijajlović and former intelligence chief Drago Spičanović denied allegations of forming a criminal organization and abusing their positions.
The prosecution alleges that Mijajlović used various media outlets to manipulate public opinion to suppress political competition, while other defendants, including former police officials and a prosecutor, are accused of abusing their positions and disclosing official data.
Mijajlović argued that his inquiries regarding the personal identification number of politician Aleksa Bečić’s mother were based on existing media reports and were intended to investigate potential corruption. Spičanović, who has been in detention for ten and a half months, claimed that the detention is disproportionate and centered on the exchange of messages regarding the aforementioned personal data.
