Mijas reduces supplier payment period and allocates water funds

The Mijas City Council has reduced its average payment period to suppliers to 23.71 days, marking its lowest record in eleven years. This achievement keeps payments below the 30-day legal limit for the second consecutive month. Local officials attribute this improvement to the implementation of electronic administration, annual budget approvals, and the creation of the Budgetary Management and Accounting Body in September 2025.

Additionally, the municipal plenary approved a budget modification of 4.25 million euros to fund the connection of Mijas Pueblo to the ‘water highway.’ This project involves a high-pressure pipeline network designed to modernize infrastructure that is over 40 years old in the Costa del Sol region. The funds will specifically support the construction of a pumping pipe running from the El Lagarejo reservoir to the regulatory reservoir at the Mijas Pueblo quarry. The project is being tendered by Acosol, a public company of the Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol Occidental, which will also provide partial financing.
