Mijdrecht residents protest new town hall plans

In Mijdrecht, residents are expressing unrest regarding plans for a new town hall on Vermogenweg. The municipal council is preparing to decide on a 25 million euro investment, half of which would be drawn from general reserves.

Local citizens have raised concerns that the municipality is not sufficiently informing the public about the possibility of a referendum. While the municipality has posted instructions on its website regarding how to submit a supporting statement for a referendum, residents have criticized the lack of detailed background information and the passive nature of the communication. A council decision regarding the funding and plans is expected on September 23.
