Mika Godts confirms PSG transfer talks amid Ajax benching

Ajax winger Mika Godts has confirmed that negotiations are underway for a potential transfer to Paris Saint-Germain. The 21-year-old Belgian player addressed speculation following his last-minute exclusion from the starting lineup in Ajax's Eredivisie match against PEC Zwolle.

Godts clarified that his decision to start on the bench was due to a slight muscular discomfort felt during training, rather than an attempt to force a move. He emphasized his professionalism, stating, “As long as there is no agreement, I will play every minute I am called upon to play for Ajax.” Despite the injury concerns, Godts entered the match in the second half and provided an assist for Julian Brandt to secure a 2-0 victory.

Reports indicate that PSG has already reached a principle agreement with the player, who is reportedly interested in a long-term contract in Paris. However, a financial gap remains between the clubs. Ajax is reportedly seeking approximately 60 million euros, while PSG's initial offers have been valued between 40 and 45 million euros, with potential subsequent bids expected to reach around 55 million euros.
