Mika Poutala injured in serious tractor accident
Finnish Minister of Sports and Youth Mika Poutala was seriously injured in a tractor accident while performing earthmoving work on his property. The accident occurred when a small tractor began to tip, causing Poutala's left leg to become trapped between the machine's roll bar and the ground.
Poutala underwent two surgeries at Meilahti Hospital in Helsinki. While there was an initial risk of amputation for some of his toes, he reported that all toes remained intact following a second surgery on Sunday. He noted that further surgeries and potentially skin grafts will be required.
Poutala expressed intention to return to work once the acute hospital phase is over. Several Finnish politicians, including Sanni Grahn-Laasonen, Antti Kaikkonen, and Sofia Virtanen, have issued messages of support for his recovery.
