Mikaela Laurén to fight for WBF world title in Hamburg
Swedish boxing veteran Mikaela Laurén, 50, is set to compete for the vacant WBF light welterweight world title in Hamburg, Germany, on October 10. Laurén will face Mexican boxer Karla Ramos Zamora, who is 17 years her junior and currently ranked 8th in the world.
Zamora replaces Lena Venjakob, who withdrew from the title bout. A victory for Laurén would make her the oldest female world champion in history. The event, titled ‘Boxen Im Norden’, features several other title matches, including a super welterweight bout between Dennis Krieger and Dorde Krsmanovic.
