Mike Batiste returns to Panathinaikos as assistant coach
Former Panathinaikos player Mike Batiste has returned to the club to join the coaching staff as an assistant coach. The 49-year-old American has signed a three-year agreement to work alongside Zeljko Obradovic.
Batiste, who had significant playing stints with the team between 2003–2012 and 2013–2014, recently visited the Telekom Center Athens (OAKA) ahead of the team's scheduled preseason start on August 24. During his visit, he was seen at the club's training facility, where his own image is featured on a mural commemorating the team's history.
Throughout his playing career with Panathinaikos, Batiste won three EuroLeague titles (2007, 2009, 2011), nine Greek Basket League championships, and seven Greek Cups. The club welcomed his return on social media, stating, ‘Some places never stop feeling like HOME’.
