Mike Brown credited for New York Knicks championship turnaround

Assistant coach Rick Brunson has credited New York Knicks head coach Mike Brown with orchestrating a pivotal coaching maneuver that facilitated the team’s championship run. Speaking on the ‘Hardwood Knocks’ and ‘Locked on Knicks Squad’ podcasts, Brunson revealed that during a period of late-season struggles, Brown held individual, ‘old-school’ meetings with all five starters.

During these private sessions, Brown encouraged players to air their grievances and frustrations regarding team dynamics and individual roles. Following these individual meetings, Brown brought the starters together as a unit to address the feedback collectively. Brunson noted that this process allowed players to understand one another and resolve basketball-related issues, describing it as the moment the team’s momentum shifted heading into the postseason.

In a separate discussion at Binghamton University, Knicks player Miles McBride reflected on his journey to the NBA, emphasizing the importance of self-belief and a positive mindset in achieving professional success.
