Mike Brown Guides Knicks to First NBA Title in 53 Years

Mike Brown, the head coach of the New York Knicks, led the franchise to its first NBA championship in 53 years. The victory marked a historic turnaround for a team that had not lifted the trophy since the early 1970s.

Brown’s three‑decade coaching career includes stints as an assistant with the Washington Wizards, San Antonio Spurs (where he earned a ring in 2003) and the Golden State Warriors, where he contributed to three championships. He later served as head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings, becoming the first coach in league history to receive a unanimous Coach of the Year award. Despite his success, Brown was dismissed by the Kings midway through the 2024 season.

The Knicks’ triumph was celebrated across the United States, highlighting Brown’s reputation as one of the few Black head coaches to win an NBA championship.
