Mike Elko apologizes for ‘cesspool’ remarks regarding Texas A&M fan site
Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko has issued an apology following controversial comments directed at the TexAgs online community. During a postgame press conference after a 27-6 loss to Missouri, Elko referred to the site as “Billy’s cesspool,” a remark aimed at executive editor and co-owner Billy Liucci.
Elko clarified his stance on Monday, expressing regret for how the comments were perceived. “I regret the way it was taken, I regret the way it came out. I regret the way it ran. That certainly was never my intention,” Elko stated, adding that he maintains a “tremendous relationship” with Liucci and appreciates the broader Texas A&M fan base.
The incident follows a difficult stretch for the Aggies, who have lost three of their last four games and currently hold a 3-3 overall record and a 1-3 record in SEC play.
