Mike Evans expected to play for 49ers against Broncos despite rib injury

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mike Evans is expected to play in the upcoming matchup against the Denver Broncos despite suffering a rib fracture. Evans, who left the previous game against the Arizona Cardinals in significant pain, has been a game-time decision following a limited practice session.

To mitigate the risk of further injury, Evans will wear a protective covering over his ribs. The 49ers have expressed optimism regarding his availability, though his effectiveness remains a concern given the existing depth issues at the wide receiver position. Other receivers, including Christian Kirk, Demarcus Robinson, and De’Zhaun Stribling, are currently unavailable due to injuries.

If Evans is unable to contribute at full capacity, the 49ers may rely more heavily on Deebo Samuel, Jordan Watkins, or Brandin Cooks, who was elevated from the practice squad.
