San Francisco 49ers face injury setbacks as Mike Evans suffers rib injury
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mike Evans suffered a rib injury during a Week 3 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. Evans, who had recorded three receptions for 34 yards and a touchdown before the injury, was carted off the field after a hit from Cardinals safety Budda Baker. Head coach Kyle Shanahan reported on Monday that Evans is considered day-to-day and that the injury is not expected to be long-term.
The injury adds to a significant list of setbacks for the 49ers roster. The team has already lost several players to injuries, including wide receivers Ricky Pearsall, De’Zhaun Stibling, and Demarcus Robinson, as well as defensive end Nick Bosa and defensive tackle James Thompson Jr.
To bolster a depleted defensive line, the 49ers signed veteran pass rusher Matthew Judon to their practice squad. Judon, a four-time Pro Bowler, is expected to help the unit while other players recover. Additionally, the team plans to open the practice window for defensive end Mykel Williams this week as he works toward a potential return in Week 5.
