Mike Flanagan adapts Stephen King’s Carrie for Prime Video
Director Mike Flanagan is bringing a new eight-part adaptation of Stephen King’s 1974 novel ‘Carrie’ to Prime Video. The series, which premiered its first two episodes at Fantastic Fest, features Summer H. Howell in the title role of Carrie White.
This version updates the narrative for a modern context, incorporating elements such as smartphones and social media to depict the bullying experienced by the protagonist. The story begins following a massacre at Ewen High School, with an interviewer seeking accounts from survivors to understand the events that led to the carnage. The adaptation aims to provide a fresh perspective on the telekinetic outcast within a contemporary setting.
