Mike Flanagan’s Carrie series to premiere on Prime Video

Director Mike Flanagan is preparing a new serialized adaptation of Stephen King’s 1974 novel ‘Carrie’ for Prime Video, scheduled to premiere on October 7, 2026. Unlike previous film versions, this series aims to expand the story through a longer format, with Flanagan expressing a desire for a three-season arc to explore the characters and themes more deeply.

The series updates the narrative to the modern social media era, focusing on contemporary forms of bullying. Summer H. Howell stars as Carrie White, with Samantha Sloyan playing her mother, Margaret White. The first season will consist of eight episodes.

Flanagan, known for his previous Stephen King adaptations, intends to use the serialized format to explore the concept of ‘gifted women’ and the complexities of young women coming into their power. While the creator envisions a trilogy, Prime Video has not yet officially confirmed a multi-season order.
