Prime Video's 'Carrie' Series Debuts October 7

Prime Video is launching an eight‑episode adaptation of Stephen King's novel *Carrie* on October 7. The series is created, written and directed by horror‑genre veteran Mike Flanagan, who also serves as showrunner and will direct half of the episodes. Summer H. Howell was cast as the title character Carrie White after a worldwide search of more than a thousand actresses, with Samantha Sloyan playing the strict mother Margaret White. The ensemble also includes Siena Agudong, Matthew Lillard, Alison Thornton and others.

The first trailer and official poster were unveiled at the San Diego Comic‑Con, emphasizing a modern take that incorporates cyber‑bullying, viral social‑media abuse and the protagonist's emergent telekinetic powers. Flanagan said, "The world has changed a lot," adding that the series will explore how the internet magnifies cruelty. Stephen King is credited as an executive producer and expressed enthusiasm for the new interpretation.

All eight episodes will be released simultaneously in more than 240 territories on Prime Video, marking the first time the classic horror story is presented as a limited television series.
