Mike Flanagan’s Carrie series to debut on Prime Video

Mike Flanagan is set to release a new eight-episode series adaptation of Stephen King’s debut novel, ‘Carrie’, on Prime Video starting October 7, 2026. The production features Summer H. Howell in the title role of Carrie White and Samantha Sloyan as her religious mother, Margaret White.

Critical reception has been largely positive, with the series holding an 84% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Reviewers have praised the modern reimagining, which incorporates themes of social media bullying and online cruelty, as well as Howell’s performance. Some critics noted that while the series is a compelling reinvention, it may not reach the heights of Brian De Palma’s iconic 1976 film adaptation.

The series expands upon the original story by exploring the psychological and social consequences of isolation and bullying in a contemporary setting. Stephen King serves as an executive producer on the project.
