Mike Flanagan's 'Carrie' series receives praise from Stephen King
Director Mike Flanagan has praised the ensemble of young, relatively unknown actors in the new Prime Video series adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘Carrie’. Flanagan noted that the cast, including Summer Howell, Alison Thornton, and Sienna Agudong, developed a rare familial dynamic on set, supporting one another during difficult filming sessions.
Stephen King, who serves as an executive producer for the series, has publicly endorsed the project, describing it as ‘brilliant’ and calling Flanagan ‘the best adapter’ of his work. The eight-episode series premiered on October 7 on Prime Video.
While the ‘Carrie’ adaptation has received positive initial reactions, the discussion also highlights King’s dissatisfaction with other adaptations of his work, specifically citing the ‘Children of the Corn’ franchise as a series of poor sequels.
