Mike Hawkins Jr. leads West Virginia to historic win over Cincinnati

West Virginia University quarterback Mike Hawkins Jr. delivered a historic performance in a 45-42 victory over Cincinnati at Milan Puskar Stadium. Hawkins threw for a career-high 464 yards and rushed for 77 yards, becoming the first West Virginia quarterback to record over 400 passing yards and 75 rushing yards in a single game.

The win was secured following a critical 41-yard pass from Hawkins to Prince Strachan, which set up a walk-off 35-yard field goal by Jack Cassidy as time expired. Despite the victory, the Mountaineers' defense struggled, allowing Cincinnati to gain 622 total yards, the highest amount permitted by the team this season.
