Mike Huckabee condemns West Bank violence and calls for balanced media coverage
U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has issued strong statements regarding security and violence in the region. During a visit to the West Bank town of Turmus Ayya, Huckabee described certain attacks by Israeli settlers—including arson, vandalism, and property seizures—as criminal acts that “extend beyond a criminal act” into “an act of terror.” He urged Israeli authorities to ensure perpetrators face “severe consequences” and noted that the Israeli government has a responsibility to provide security for residents.
Separately, Huckabee called for “balanced reporting” from international media following the murder of Netanel Shakron, an Israeli father of six. Shakron was shot and killed near Neve Tzuf while visiting a spring with his son ahead of Yom Kippur. Huckabee stated he would be monitoring how the international press covers such terrorist attacks. His comments align with statements from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office, which has previously criticized global media for insufficient coverage of Palestinian violence against Israelis.
