Mike Johnson supports Rep. Max Miller amid abuse allegations
House Speaker Mike Johnson has expressed support for Representative Max Miller’s reelection campaign, despite ongoing allegations of domestic violence and child abuse. Johnson described Miller as a “great member of Congress” and noted that while Miller has “issues in his personal life he’s working through,” the House Ethics Committee investigation must be allowed to proceed through due process.
Miller, a Republican from Ohio, faces accusations from his ex-wife, Emily Moreno, involving physical abuse against her and their two-year-old daughter. Miller has denied these claims, characterizing them as “politically motivated.” He previously requested an ethics investigation into himself to clear his name, stating, “I have absolutely nothing to hide.”
The House Ethics Committee announced its investigation into Miller on August 4, focusing on allegations of domestic violence, abuse, and potential illegal drug use. Due to the committee’s 60-day reelection blackout period beginning September 4, a final report is not expected before the November elections.
