Mike Johnson warns of rising socialism ahead of midterm elections

House Speaker Mike Johnson is launching a nationwide campaign tour ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, focusing on the rise of socialist ideology within the Democratic Party. Johnson has framed the upcoming elections as a choice between “common sense versus communism,” warning that younger activists and insurgent candidates are pushing the Democratic Party toward ideologies he claims have historically led to poverty and violence.

As part of this effort, Johnson highlighted the launch of the “Contrast for America” website. The platform serves as an educational tool intended to teach voters, particularly young people, about the historical failures of socialism and communism in places such as Soviet Russia, communist China, and Venezuela.

Johnson expressed confidence that Republicans will expand their House majority in November. During his tour, which includes campaigning in dozens of House districts across multiple states, he emphasized that the political debate will shift from marginal tax rates to the fundamental preservation of the American republic.
