Mike Krukow to retire after 37 seasons as San Francisco Giants broadcaster

Former pitcher and longtime voice of the San Francisco Giants, Mike Krukow, announced that he will step away from the broadcast booth at the conclusion of the current season. The 74‑year‑old, who has been part of the Giants’ radio and television team for 36‑37 years, said the decision was driven by his ongoing battle with inclusion‑body myositis, a degenerative muscle disease that has limited his travel in recent years.

Krukow thanked fans, his wife Jennifer, and the organization, describing his tenure as a “gift” and expressing gratitude for the support he received. Giants President and CEO Larry Baer called Krukow the team’s “spiritual leader” and said the franchise will honor him with a ceremony at Oracle Park on September 27. His broadcast partner Duane Kuiper, who has worked alongside Krukow for decades, also praised the broadcaster’s humor, insight and lasting impact on generations of fans.
