Mike Krukow to Retire from San Francisco Giants Broadcast Booth in 2026

Longtime San Francisco Giants broadcaster Mike Krukow announced he will retire after the 2026 MLB season, ending a 36‑year tenure behind the microphone. Krukow said his decision is driven by the progression of inclusion body myositis, a degenerative muscle disease that has made continuing his on‑air duties unsafe. He explained that the unpredictability of his condition now requires him to step away for his own safety, noting that his Reno home provides a more manageable environment for his health.

Krukow, who has been paired with Duane Kuiper as the beloved "Kruk and Kuip" duo, also reflected on his playing career. A former Cal Poly pitcher, he spent three seasons with the Chicago Cubs before joining the Giants as a pitcher, retiring from the field in 1990 and moving into broadcasting. In recent years he was honored by Cal Poly with a Hall of Fame induction and an honorary doctorate from the university’s Bailey College of Science and Mathematics.
