Mike Lawler leads Cait Conley in NY 17th District poll
An internal poll released by Republican Representative Mike Lawler shows him holding a narrow three-point lead over Democratic challenger Cait Conley in New York’s 17th Congressional District. The survey, conducted by McLaughlin & Associates from September 28 to September 30, found Lawler at 50% and Conley at 47% among 400 likely voters. The poll carries a 4.9% margin of error, indicating the race remains highly competitive.
The results contrast with a separate Emerson College and PIX11 survey conducted shortly before, which showed Conley leading Lawler by two points. In the Lawler campaign's survey, the incumbent maintained strong support among Republicans (92%) and independents (52%), while also capturing 20% of Democratic voters.
The 17th District, which includes Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, and Dutchess counties, is considered a top target for Democrats following Kamala Harris’s victory in the area in 2024. Additionally, the survey included polling for the New York gubernatorial race, where Republican nominee Bruce Blakeman led Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul 51% to 47% within the district.
