Mike Lawler secures over 30 union endorsements for NY reelection
Republican Congressman Mike Lawler has secured endorsements from more than 30 labor unions for his reelection campaign in New York’s 17th Congressional District. This total includes 20 recent endorsements from groups such as the Teamsters, building trades, maritime unions, and federal and postal employee organizations, following 11 law enforcement union endorsements in August.
The 17th District, which encompasses Rockland County and parts of Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess counties, is considered a critical swing seat that could influence which party controls the House of Representatives. While Lawler has gained significant support from various AFL-CIO affiliates, his Democratic opponent, Cait Conley, maintains backing from major organizations including the New York State AFL-CIO, New York State United Teachers, and 1199 SEIU.
With approximately one-third of district residents living in union households, the ability of these organizations to mobilize members through actions like phone banks will be a decisive factor in the upcoming midterm election.
