Mike Love focuses on recovery to return to performing

Beach Boys legend Mike Love has expressed his intention to return to performing despite recent health challenges. Love recently appeared at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, where observers noted he appeared frail and was limited to singing backing vocals on select songs. This appearance followed the cancellation of an extended summer tour due to undisclosed health issues.

Love stated that he is dedicating his full energy to rehabilitation to return to the stage. While he has not disclosed the specific nature or severity of his medical condition, he indicated he has no interest in retirement, noting that performing at the Ryman “fed my soul and gave me an incredible lift.”

Co-founding member Al Jardine, who currently tours with the Pet Sounds Band, expressed sympathy for Love following the social media footage of the Nashville performance. Jardine described Love as a “total pro” driven by a “show business mentality” that keeps him performing regardless of the cost.
