Mike Newman launches One Nation campaign in Cessnock

Mike Newman, the newly appointed New South Wales leader for One Nation, has launched his campaign as a candidate for the Cessnock electorate. Newman brings a background in corporate finance and investment, having previously served as the NSW senior trade and investment commissioner for North Asia.

Newman aims to leverage his experience in international investment and his fluency in Japanese to represent the Hunter mining region. He cited recent political shifts, such as the significant swing against Labor in the Western Australian seat of Secret Harbour, as evidence that traditional safe seats are no longer guaranteed. Newman stated that his goal is to provide the region with greater political leverage by challenging Labor's dominance in the area.
