Mike Rogers Secures Republican Nomination for Michigan U.S. Senate

Former FBI special agent and ex‑House lawmaker Mike Rogers won the Republican primary for Michigan’s U.S. Senate seat, facing no opposition and being projected the winner shortly after polls closed. The open seat follows Democratic Senator Gary Peters’ decision not to seek re‑election, turning the race into a key pickup target for Republicans aiming to expand their Senate majority.

Rogers, who narrowly lost the 2024 contest to Democrat Elissa Slotkin by about 19,000 votes, is positioning his campaign around local concerns such as utility rates and manufacturing jobs, while pledging a “change election” to end Democratic control of the state.
