Mike Smith faces sexual assault trial

A three-day sexual assault trial has commenced for actor Mike Smith, known for his role as Bubbles in the comedy series ‘Trailer Park Boys’. Smith has pleaded not guilty to one count of sexual assault involving an alleged incident from December 30, 2017.

Following the charges, Smith stepped away from his position as managing director of Trailer Park Boys Inc. The company stated it is aware of the allegations and takes the matter seriously. Gary Howsam has assumed the managing director responsibilities for the firm.

Court documents indicate Smith has been ordered to have no contact with the complainant, whose identity is protected by a court-ordered ban. The production company noted it remains focused on delivering the franchise's 13th season.
