Mike Tomlin debuts as NBC analyst, discusses Steelers coaching transition
Former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin made his first appearance as an NBC analyst during the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game. He wore former Titans running back Chris Johnson's No. 28 jersey to honor Johnson’s ALS diagnosis and helped revive the Ice Bucket Challenge on air, drawing widespread praise from fans and colleagues.
In the broadcast studio, Tomlin addressed questions about a possible return to coaching, saying he misses the "brotherhood" of the NFL but does not miss the dorm‑room life of training camp. He also offered his view on the Steelers’ new head coach, Mike McCarthy, calling him "perfect for them" and noting the challenges and continuity ahead for the franchise.
Speculation has arisen about whether the Steelers would receive any compensation if Tomlin were to return to coaching, with reports suggesting the team would get no trade package under the terms of his current contract.
