Because Tomlin stepped down from the Steelers rather than being fired, the organization still holds his contract rights through the 2027 season. Any team interested in hiring him would likely need to negotiate a trade, though Tomlin reportedly possesses a no-trade clause in his current deal.

In his new role with NBC's Football Night in America, Tomlin has shared his perspective on other coaches, specifically praising John Harbaugh. Tomlin expressed confidence in Harbaugh's ability to improve the New York Giants, noting that Harbaugh's coaching style and ability to develop teams should lead to a higher competitive floor for the organization.
