Mike Trout looks to return for Angels ahead of Philadelphia All‑Star Game

Mike Trout, the 34‑year‑old Los Angeles Angels outfielder, said he expects to be cleared to play after missing action since June 17 because of a right hamstring strain he suffered while running the bases against Arizona. He completed his normal pre‑game routine on Friday before the Angels opened a series against the Boston Red Sox and believes he can suit up early next week.

Angels manager Kurt Suzuki confirmed Trout “looks good” and is close to returning. Although not yet officially on the roster, the two‑time All‑Star Game MVP is expected to be selected as the American League’s starting left fielder for the All‑Star Game in Philadelphia, a special moment for him given his New Jersey roots. Trout indicated he will likely skip the Home Run Derby to protect his health.
