Mike Tyson defeats Brian Nielsen in Copenhagen

In October 2001, Mike Tyson defeated Brian Nielsen at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, Denmark. Nielsen had previously matched Rocky Marciano’s celebrated 49-0 undefeated record by defeating Tim Witherspoon in 1999.

Despite Nielsen entering the ring with a significant weight advantage of approximately 20 pounds and the support of the Danish crowd, Tyson maintained his power. During the bout, Tyson took control of the fight and caused a cut near Nielsen’s left eye, ultimately breaking the streak of the heavyweight who had previously reached the 49-0 milestone.
