Mike Vrabel avoids criticizing officials following reported NFL fine

New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has adopted a more restrained approach toward NFL officiating following reports that he is facing a $250,000 fine for his conduct. After the Patriots' 30-24 loss to the Chicago Bears on Thursday night, Vrabel declined to comment on a controversial false-start penalty, stating, “I’m not in good favor with the officiating department so I probably shouldn’t say anything.”

Reports indicate that Vrabel, along with Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni and New York Jets coach Aaron Glenn, is among three head coaches facing these penalties. However, the NFL has reportedly placed the fines on hold, offering the coaches an opportunity to avoid payment if their behavior improves.

Despite the loss, Patriots coach Mike Vrabel praised quarterback Drake Maye’s performance. Maye completed 77.4% of his pass attempts for 321 yards and two touchdowns, though he also threw an interception in the end zone during the game at Soldier Field.
