Arsenal prepares for title defense as Arteta nears new contract

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is preparing to defend the Premier League title following the club’s first league championship in 22 years. Ahead of the new season opener against Coventry City, Arsenal chief executive Richard Garlick confirmed that Arteta is expected to sign a new contract ‘very shortly’, addressing previous concerns regarding the manager's future.

To bolster the squad, Arsenal has completed significant transfers, including the acquisition of Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimarães from Newcastle United and winger Christos Tzolis. Arteta expressed high enthusiasm for Guimarães, noting the player's energy and desire to help the club reach the next level. The club is also reportedly evaluating further attacking reinforcements as the transfer window nears its close.

On the pitch, Arsenal enters the season as favorites after a successful campaign that included a Champions League final appearance and a Community Shield victory over Manchester City. While the squad is largely prepared, there are minor fitness concerns regarding Guimarães, who is being monitored following recent play.
