Mikel Brown Jr. shines in Nets Summer League debut
Rookie guard Mikel Brown Jr. posted a strong second‑half performance in his first NBA Summer League game, helping the Brooklyn Nets defeat the New York Knicks 91‑65 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. Brown scored 20 points (16 after halftime), added three assists, two steals and a block, while teammate Egor Demin also had 20 points. The Nets built a lead at halftime (38‑33) and surged in the third quarter, outscoring the Knicks 30‑9.
In a separate debut, Spanish rookie Sergio de Larrea logged 9 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, a steal and a block for the Dallas Mavericks as they beat the Golden State Warriors 101‑90 in the same Summer League venue. De Larrea played 29 minutes and earned praise from Mavericks coach Joe Boylan for his maturity and defensive effort.
